Delta Dental of South Dakota answers the phone; it does not run the portal
Here is the one thing an office cannot work out by looking. Delta Dental of South Dakota is involved in the programme — it runs a call centre for it. It is not the benefit manager, and there is no Delta provider portal standing in front of South Dakota Medicaid dental.
That distinction is exactly the shape that wastes a morning. An office hears "Delta Dental" attached to South Dakota Medicaid, applies the reflex that works in most states — find the administrator, then find the administrator's portal — and goes looking for a login that was never created. Nothing turns up, and the reasonable conclusion is that the search terms were wrong. They were not. The portal is the state's, at the address above, and Delta's part of this is a telephone number, not a website.

The check was a DNS lookup on 10 September 2026 and that is the whole of it. The name resolved through an alias onto a Microsoft Azure host and returned a single address. We did not attempt to sign in, and we make no claim about whether the system was reachable from any particular office network at any moment — several state portals refuse traffic that does not look like an ordinary browser, so a failure from elsewhere proves nothing.
One thing to know before you report an outage: appssd.sd.gov, the address you get by trimming dssapps. off the front, returned no address when we queried it the same day. Shortening the hostname gives a browser error rather than a landing page. Type the full name.
