In New York, dental is carved in to managed care. The patient's plan is not a distraction here — it is the routing decision. Find the plan, then find that plan's dental administrator, then log in. DentaQuest holds a long list of New York plans; UnitedHealthcare Dental holds its own, and Healthplex now runs inside it.
That is the exact opposite of the neighbouring answer people carry around. In North Carolina dental is carved out of managed care and the card is irrelevant. In New York the card is the whole question, and an office that has learned the North Carolina habit will check the state system, find no dental detail, and stop.
The Healthplex address returns nothing, and that is a contract change, not an outage
healthplex.com returned no address on 10 September 2026. The domain has not vanished — it still has nameservers delegated, and among them is the same pair that serves uhcdental.com — but a lookup for the name itself, and for its www form, came back empty.
For an office with a Healthplex bookmark, that is the worst-shaped failure there is. A retired host that is deleted from the Domain Name System rather than redirected produces a browser error, and a browser error reads as "their system is down, try later". It is not down. Healthplex now runs inside UnitedHealthcare Dental, so the answer is not to wait — it is to go to a different address.
We checked the name and its nameservers, and nothing further. We are not claiming what does or does not sit behind any login.
Where you actually log in
| What | Address | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| State system — NY Medicaid and Child Health Plus | epaces.emedny.org | 10 September 2026 |
| DentaQuest — long list of New York plans | provideraccess.dentaquest.com | 10 September 2026 |
| UnitedHealthcare Dental — including Healthplex | uhcdental.com | 10 September 2026 |
| Old Healthplex address | healthplex.com — no DNS record | 10 September 2026 |
Every hostname above went through a Domain Name System lookup on 10 September 2026. The first three returned addresses; the fourth returned none. That is what we verified and the limit of it — we did not sign in, and a portal that refuses a request from outside a practice network is a normal thing for a government or payer system to do, not evidence of a problem.
Which plan sends you where
DentaQuest carries a long roster of New York plans, so it is the likeliest destination — but "likeliest" is not a routing rule, and the plans it does not carry are exactly the ones an assumption will cost you. Where a plan's dental administrator is not obvious from the card, ring the plan and ask who administers the dental benefit. Write the answer down against that plan. It is a five-minute call once, versus a rejected claim every time.
What to do
- Start at the card, not at the portal. Plan first, dental administrator second, login third.
- Use epaces.emedny.org to confirm the member and the plan; expect the dental detail to live with the administrator, not there.
- If your Healthplex bookmark throws a browser error, delete it. The route now runs through UnitedHealthcare Dental.
- Record the dental administrator against each plan in the practice management system. A note filed under "New York Medicaid" routes the next person wrong.
- Do not carry the North Carolina rule across the border. There, the card is irrelevant to dental; here it decides everything.
The state-by-state directory answers the same question for 48 states and the District of Columbia, each hostname re-checked in DNS on the same date.
Portal addresses and administrators last re-checked 10 September 2026.
