Montana is one of the simple ones. Montana Healthcare Programs and Healthy Montana Kids run dental fee-for-service with no benefit manager at all — no DentaQuest, no LIBERTY, no SKYGEN — so there is no plan to identify first and nobody sitting between the practice and the programme. The provider portal is mtaccesstohealth.portal.conduent.com and claims go through portal.mt.healthinteractive.net. Both resolved when we looked them up in the Domain Name System on 10 September 2026.
That is genuinely the whole routing answer, and this page is short because the state is. The only thing here worth writing down is the shape of the two addresses.
Two vendors' hostnames, and neither one shortens
Neither address is on mt.gov. One sits under conduent.com, the other under healthinteractive.net — two different vendors' domains for one fee-for-service programme, which is why an office that finds one of them assumes the other must be wrong.
They are also both fragile to being trimmed. We looked up the obvious shorter forms on 10 September 2026: portal.conduent.com has no DNS record, and neither does mt.healthinteractive.net. That matters because of how the failure presents. A hostname with no DNS record does not redirect you and does not show a login page that rejects you — the browser fails before it reaches any Montana system, with an error that reads exactly like the portal being down. It is not down. The address is being typed short, or a bookmark was tidied.

The check was a DNS lookup on 10 September 2026: each full hostname returned an address. That is what we verified and the limit of it. We did not sign in, and we make no claim that either site was reachable from a given network — state portals commonly refuse traffic that does not come from an ordinary practice connection, so a failure elsewhere proves nothing about the portal.
What to do
- Bookmark both addresses in full and reach them from the bookmark. If the browser says the site cannot be found, check the hostname before reporting an outage.
- Write "no benefit manager" against Montana in your practice management system. The absence of one is the fact people keep re-deriving, and it is what stops somebody going to look for a DentaQuest login.
- Expect two systems, not one. Finding the claims address does not mean you were wrong about the provider portal.
