The state system is portal.indianamedicaid.com, and for a great many Indiana patients it is not where the dental answer lives. Indiana has no dental carve-out. Most states hand the whole dental benefit to one company, and once you know the state you know the login. Here you do not: under the Indiana Health Coverage Programs, Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), every plan holds its own dental. So "the Indiana Medicaid dental portal" is not one address. It is three, and which one you need is a property of the patient's plan, not of the state.
The three logins are not three views of one system
Two of the three addresses are not Indiana names at all. pwp.sciondental.com and app.dentalhub.com are benefit-manager platforms — the sort of address that turns up in half a dozen states under half a dozen different contracts. That matters in two directions. A credential that works at one of them says nothing about the other, and an Indiana office that has "the Scion login" from a colleague in another state has a login for that state's contract, not for this patient's plan.
What the state-by-state record settles for Indiana is which three destinations are in play. It does not map each managed-care plan onto one of them, and neither should we: the mapping is the plan's to state. Ring the number on the back of the patient's card and ask which company administers the dental benefit and where you verify and submit. Write the answer down against the plan.
What the DNS lookups actually showed
Every hostname below was put through a Domain Name System lookup on 10 September 2026. That is what was verified and the whole of it — no sign-in was attempted, and no claim is made that any of these sites was reachable from any particular office network. Several government and benefit-manager portals refuse traffic that does not come from an ordinary browser on an ordinary network, so a failed connection from somewhere else proves nothing about the portal.
Two results are worth knowing before you type:
- portal.indianamedicaid.com and the bare indianamedicaid.com are different machines. The portal name resolves through an Amazon load balancer to two addresses; the bare domain resolves to a single unrelated address. They are not the same host, so shortening the address in the bookmark bar is not a harmless habit.
- pwp.sciondental.com is served out of SKYGEN's network. Its lookup runs through a chain ending in
skygenusasystems.com, and thesciondental.comandskygenusasystems.comapex names resolve to the same pair of addresses. Scion is the platform brand; the machinery behind it is the same. Useful when a plan tells you one name and your bookmark says the other.

What to do
- Read the plan before you read the state. Hoosier Healthwise and HIP members route by plan; starting at the state portal for a managed-care dental question is a detour.
- Ask the plan directly which company administers its dental benefit, and get the portal address from them rather than from a search result.
- Record the portal against the plan in your practice management system, not against "Indiana Medicaid". A note filed under the state sends the next person to the wrong login.
- Type the full hostname. The state portal name and the bare domain resolve to different machines.
- Do not reuse another state's Scion or DentalHub credential. Same platform, different contract.
