Connecticut has two doors, and which one you need depends on what you are doing rather than on the patient. www.ctdssmap.com is the state's system, where claims adjudicate. www.ctdhp.com is the Connecticut Dental Health Partnership, which runs the dental network and prior authorisations. Both hostnames resolved when we checked them in the Domain Name System on 10 September 2026. HUSKY Health dental is fee-for-service under a single statewide administrator — so the plan branding on the card does not send you anywhere different.
The administrator is BeneCare, not DentaQuest
This is the fact worth carrying out of the article. Most states that run dental under one statewide administrator hand it to one of the large benefit managers, and DentaQuest is the name an office reaches for by default — it holds Colorado, Virginia and South Carolina outright, among others. Connecticut's administrator is BeneCare. If somebody has sent you to a DentaQuest provider portal for a HUSKY member, that is a dead end, and no amount of hunting through it will produce the patient.
The split is the second half of the same fact, and it is unusual. BeneCare runs the network and the prior authorisations through the Connecticut Dental Health Partnership; the claim itself adjudicates through the state's system. So an office can be correctly registered, correctly authorised, and still be looking at the wrong screen for a claim question — not because anything is broken, but because the two jobs live at two addresses.
What the DNS lookups actually returned
We ran Domain Name System lookups on 10 September 2026 and this is what came back. A lookup turns a hostname into an address a browser can reach; it says nothing about what is behind the login, and we did not attempt to sign in.
husky.ct.gov has no address record. It is the name any biller would guess from the programme, and it does not resolve — which fails in the browser with a "site can't be reached" message rather than a redirect. That reads as an outage and is not one.
The www matters at ctdssmap.com. The bare ctdssmap.com and www.ctdssmap.com returned two different addresses on the same day — 144.10.243.42 and 192.56.1.76. Two names that look interchangeable are not pointing at the same machine, so use the www form.
ctdhp.com and ctdhp.org are different destinations. ctdhp.com and www.ctdhp.com both resolved to 192.135.189.134 — the bare name directly, and the www form by way of an alias in omegadatacenter.com. The .org version of the same name resolved to 198.60.193.24 — which is also the address benecare.com and www.benecare.com returned. We report the addresses and stop there; we make no claim about what either site serves. The practical line is that .com and .org are not spellings of one thing here, and the directory's address is the .com.
Where you actually log in
| What | Address | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| Claims — the state's system | www.ctdssmap.com | 10 September 2026 |
| Network and prior authorisations — CT Dental Health Partnership | www.ctdhp.com | 10 September 2026 |
| Statewide dental administrator | BeneCare — not DentaQuest | 10 September 2026 |
| husky.ct.gov | no DNS address record | 10 September 2026 |
| ctdhp.org | resolves to a different address from ctdhp.com | 10 September 2026 |
What to do
- Bookmark both addresses under one heading in your browser, labelled by job: claims at ctdssmap, authorisations and network at ctdhp. The mistake here is not knowing the wrong address, it is using the right one for the wrong task.
- Type the
www. At ctdssmap.com the bare name and thewwwname resolve to different addresses. - Treat a DentaQuest referral for a HUSKY member as wrong, not as a portal you have failed to find.
- Ignore the managed-care branding on the card for dental. One administrator covers the state.
- Write "BeneCare, two portals" against Connecticut in the practice management system, with both hostnames. Both halves of that get re-derived otherwise.
The state-by-state directory gives the same answer for 48 states and the District of Columbia, each hostname re-checked on the same date.
Portal addresses and administrator last re-checked 10 September 2026.
