What is the Kentucky Medicaid dental provider portal — KYMMIS or DentaQuest?

Kentucky Medicaid and KCHIP run through kymmis.com with no dental carve-out — DentaQuest is settled only for Humana and Wellpoint and the other four plans' dental administrators are not established.

The state system for Kentucky Medicaid and KCHIP is kymmis.com. There is no dental carve-out — no single company holding dental for the whole programme — so for a managed-care member the dental benefit belongs to the plan, and the plan decides where you verify. DentaQuest at providers.dentaquest.com is settled for Humana and Wellpoint. For the remaining four managed-care plans, it is not settled at all.

Four plans have no published dental administrator

This is the part an office cannot look up, and it is why Kentucky costs more phone time than a state with one benefit manager. Two plans have a dental administrator on the public record — Humana and Wellpoint. Four others do not. Not "probably DentaQuest because two of the others are" — not established. Assuming the same company runs the other four is the most natural mistake available here and there is nothing behind it.

For any Kentucky member outside Humana and Wellpoint: ring the number on the back of the card, ask which company administers the dental benefit, ask for the portal address, and write both down against the plan in your practice management system. That note is worth more than any directory, because it is the answer for the plan in front of you and it is dated.

What the DNS lookups actually showed

Both hostnames were put through a Domain Name System lookup on 10 September 2026. That is what was verified and the limit of it. No sign-in was attempted, and there is no claim here that either site was reachable from a particular office network — portals commonly refuse traffic that does not look like an ordinary browser, so a connection failing from somewhere else says nothing about the portal.

  • kymmis.com resolved to a single address, and www.kymmis.com is an alias pointing at the same name — so either form reaches the same machine. Note that Kentucky's state system is a .com, not a .gov; here that is normal rather than a warning sign.
  • providers.dentaquest.com resolved through an Akamai chain to two addresses. The plural matters: DentaQuest also publishes provideraccess.dentaquest.com, which resolved to a different pair of addresses entirely and is what several other states use. Kentucky's is providers.

What to do

  • Read the plan on the card before you pick a login. Kentucky routes dental by plan, not by state.
  • Use DentaQuest only for Humana and Wellpoint unless another plan has told you in so many words that it uses DentaQuest too.
  • Call the other four plans and record the answer, with the date you were told. The gap is in what is published, not in your search.
  • Check the DentaQuest hostname exactly: providers.dentaquest.com, not provideraccess.dentaquest.com. They are different systems and a colleague in another state will hand you the wrong one in good faith.

The state-by-state directory has the same answer for 48 states and the District of Columbia, each hostname re-checked on the same date.

Portal addresses and plan administrators last re-checked 10 September 2026.
